Faleke, Supporters Want to Derail Kogi West, Central Pact, Olumoko Alleges

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Hon. Funsho Olumoko, has accused Hon. James Faleke and his supporters of attempting to derail the political understanding between Kogi West and Kogi Central, describing the move as an act of desperation.

Speaking at the palace of the Ohimege Igu of Koton Karfe, Alhaji Saidu Akawu Salihu, on Thursday, Olumoko said, "We have an understanding. Kogi West and Kogi Central can work together based on our past ties. However, along the line, some persons, out of desperation, want to derail this cooperation."

He questioned opposition to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo's second term bid, saying, "How can somebody who is contesting for a fifth term say someone else cannot go for a second term? He who comes to equity must come with clean hands. If he can go for five terms, why can't Governor Ododo go for a second term?"

Olumoko described the disagreement as the major source of political tension in the state, adding, "This is the bone of contention. This is what heated up the system."

Calling for stronger cooperation between the two senatorial districts, he said, "No single senatorial district in Kogi can produce the governor on its own strength."

He appealed to the Ohimege Igu to rally Kogi Central behind Governor Ododo's second term ambition, stating, "We are appealing to Your Royal Highness to speak to all your sons to unanimously support Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo for a second term in office. That is the shortest route for Kogi West to get the governorship."
