A Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos, has ordered the final forfeiture of 52 terrace and maisonette houses located at Mercyville Estate, Covenant Way, off New Road, Ilasan, Lekki, to the Federal Government. Justice Alexandra Owoeye delivered the ruling after upholding an application filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which argued that the properties were reasonably suspected to have been acquired with proceeds of unlawful activities. The estate was recovered from Fielddreams Limited, Ifeanyi Nweke and Amex Savings and Loans Limited. The EFCC told the court that it had earlier secured an interim forfeiture order in August 2024 and complied with the court's directive by publishing the order in a national newspaper to allow interested parties challenge the forfeiture. Anthony Ikenwe &Kevin Nwamma Three men, including two Nigerians, have been sentenced to prison in the United Kingdom after orchestrating a sophisticated cryptocurrency fraud that swindled victims of more than £4 million. The convicts, Anthony Ikenwe, Kevin Nwamma and Hamza Bashir, posed as police officers and convinced eight victims that their cryptocurrency holdings were at risk. Using fake police websites and fabricated investigations, they persuaded the victims to transfer their digital assets into what they claimed were secure police accounts. The stolen funds were laundered and spent on luxury cars, designer goods and lavish holidays before investigators recovered about £1 million during an extensive investigation launched after one of the victims reported the scam in early 2025. Ikenwe and Nwamma were each sentenced to about six years in prison for conspiracy to commit fraud and money laundering, while Bashir was sentenced to three years and nine months in prison....
