The Osun State Police Command has confirmed the detention of the Secretary to the State Government, Teslim Igbalaye , and five others following a raid on his residence in Osogbo. The operation, carried out on Wednesday, was based on what police described as credible intelligence targeting a suspected gang leader, Abiodun Arowomole , popularly known as Ashipa , who is wanted in connection with alleged murder and other criminal offences. According to the police, Arowomole was found at the residence located in the Oroki Estate area of Osogbo, prompting the arrest of everyone present. During the operation, officers recovered ₦4,810,500 in cash , two Permanent Voter Cards, a voter register covering Wards 1 to 15, a Dynabook laptop, a photocopy machine and a printer. Police said the recovered items have been taken into custody for forensic examination as investigations continue into possible electoral offences, criminal conspiracy and the alleged harbouring of a wanted suspect. ...

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, Hon. Funsho Olumoko, has accused Hon. James Faleke and his supporters of attempting to derail the political understanding between Kogi West and Kogi Central, describing the move as an act of desperation. Speaking at the palace of the Ohimege Igu of Koton Karfe, Alhaji Saidu Akawu Salihu, on Thursday, Olumoko said, "We have an understanding. Kogi West and Kogi Central can work together based on our past ties. However, along the line, some persons, out of desperation, want to derail this cooperation." He questioned opposition to Governor Ahmed Usman Ododo's second term bid, saying, "How can somebody who is contesting for a fifth term say someone else cannot go for a second term? He who comes to equity must come with clean hands. If he can go for five terms, why can't Governor Ododo go for a second term?" The United States House of Representatives has approved a proposal that could suspend American assistance to Nigeria over concerns about the Federal Government's response to the killing of Christians and other religious violence. The measure, passed as part of the Fiscal Year 2027 National Security and State Department Appropriations Bill, would require the US Secretary of State to certify that Nigeria is making measurable progress in protecting vulnerable communities, prosecuting perpetrators, supporting victims, and rebuilding affected communities before assistance can continue. Lawmakers later voted to strengthen the proposal by seeking to withhold 100 percent of US assistance to Nigeria until those conditions are met. The proposal is not yet law. It must still be passed by the US Senate and signed by the US President before it can take effect.
